The Water Resource Area layer was developed for use within the Maryland Growth and Conservation Interactive Map. It was developed using a combination of layers from the Maryland Department of the Environment. The Wellhead Protection Area (Wellhead Protection, 2014), Tier II Catchments (Tier II, 2022), and locally nominated Water Resources Areas were combined by the Maryland Department of Planning Geospatial Data and Analysis Unit to produce this layer. Fields include: Wellhead_1 – Is within a well head protection area as identified by MDE (Boolean, Yes/No); TierII – Is within a tier II (high quality) watershed as identified by MDE (Boolean, Yes/No); WRR – Water Resource Area, Is an area identified as Tier II Catchment, Wellhead Protection area, or locally nominated area (Boolean, Yes/No). This layer was most recently updated in March 2024. The layer will be updated when model inputs are updated by the Department of the Environment. |
