Service Description: The Natural Resources Area layer was developed for use within the Maryland Growth and Conservation Interactive Map. It was developed using a combination of layers from the Maryland Department of Natural Resources. The Wildlife & Rare Species Habitat (BioNet, 2021), Targeted Ecological Areas (TEA, 2011), and Habitat Connectivity Hubs and Corridors (GI, 2024), and locally nominated Natural Resources Areas were combined by the Maryland Department of Planning Geospatial Data and Analysis Unit to produce this layer. This layer was most recently updated in February 2026. The layer will be updated when model inputs are updated by the Department of Natural Resources.
